TNA Alumni Association donates computers to affected schools in Chungthang

GANGTOK, 01 Nov: In support of the initiative to “Reconstruct and Rebuild lives” of 18th September 2011 Earth quake victims and also recognizing the need to restart the process of providing quality education to the quake hit children, The Tashi Namgyal Academy Alumni Association, donated one complete set of desk top computers each to two private schools of Chungthang informs a press release issued by Tseten Lepcha, founder membe, Tashi Namgyal Academy Alumni Association.
The earthquake affected school are the Moonlight Academy and Mt. Everest Academy. The former was established in 1998 and was totally damaged in the earthquake. The school had more than 100 students and approximately 30 % students have more or less left the location, it is informed. Mt. Everest Academy is the oldest English Medium private school and completely damaged and has now been relocated in safer area. The school also had more than hundred students and large numbers of them have left the area, it is informed.
The release states that the decision to make the above relief initiative was taken in view of the fact that these institutions were also providing quality education to the children of the society and needed to be supported in times of difficulty. The move is also intended to encourage more intellectuals to participate in the process of providing quality education to the underprivileged sections of the society and help them to lead a better life.
 The above mentioned items were handed over to the respective school authorities by Mr Tsering Wangdi Lepcha, Area MLA ,Lachen Mangan Assembly Constituency in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim on 26th October 2011 at Chungthang, North Sikkim.
