NYK’s National Integration Camp begins at Singtam

GANGTOK, 29 Nov [IPR]: The National Integration Camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Sikkim Zone was inaugurated by the State Rural Management and Development Minister, CB Karki, today, at Bihari Bhawan, Singtam.
The six-day camp has 20 participants each from Anantang (Jammu and Kashmir), Deoghar (Jharkhand), Saharsa (Bihar), Tura (Meghalaya) and 50 from Sikkim and will conclude on 04 December. 26 participants from Kokrajhar (Assam) are also expected to participate in the camp.
The Minister in his inaugural address highlighted about Sikkim’s post-merger period and mentioned that although the state merged with the Indian Union much after India gained independence, but it has set a landmark with regard to development.
He also explained about the pro-poor initiatives of the State Government like Kutcha House Free State, CATCH programme, literacy programmes and also stressed on the quality of development.
The State Government has laid special emphasis on the youth of the state to enhance their capabilities and skills, therefore, a separate Directorate of Capacity Building has been established, he added.
The Minister also expressed that a programme like this would motivate the youth of the country towards community welfare as the youth plays a vital role in taking the country to newer heights. This programme is also a platform to enable them to showcase their talents through various cultural and co-curricular activities and will also integrate in the nation building process.
He also made the announcement that entry has been made free for the participants, who want to visit the recently inaugurated Char Dham in Namchi.
Area MLA, Am Prasad Sharma in his address expressed his gratitude to Nehru Yuva Kendra which has been working for the betterment of the youth, in particular, and people in general. As the saying goes ‘the youth are the backbone of a society’ therefore, they should also nurture themselves accordingly, he added.
District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Puran Chhetri while delivering the welcome address apprised the gathering about the programme which included multi cultural show, seminars and interaction.
