East Sikkim schools celebrate National Education Day

GANGTOK, 14 Nov: A number of schools in East Sikkim joined in the celebrations of National Education Day on 11 November.
Mamring Sr Sec School organized an awareness rally from the school till Dulal Dara which concluded in a cultural programme by the students. The Principal, Radha Mishra read out the message of the Prime Minister while teachers, Passangkit and Mahendra Sharma read out the messages of the Union HRDD Minister and the Chief Minister of Sikkim respectively.
The programme was attended by teachers, students, local Panchayat members, SMC members and the local public.
Raley JHS also celebrated the day with a rally on RTE and CCE from Samdong to Lower Tumin. Ward Panchayat, DN Gautam was present as the chief guest while Ward Panchayat, Denjong Lepcha was present as a special guest. A cultural programme and a short play were also presented by the students.
Kaputhang Primary School organized a 3 kilometer rally from Panchayat house to Mansi Dara and back. This was followed by a cultural programme performed by the students of the school at the school premises and the messages of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of the State read out by the teachers of the school. The principal highlighted the importance of coordination amongst the parents and teachers to inculcate the habit of school-going among the students while the Panchayat assured its full support to groom the school in every aspect.

Similarly, Rakdong Tintek Jr. High School also observed the day in a function attended by Panchayat President, Ganden Lepcha, as the chief guest and ward panchayat, Denjong Lepcha as a special guest.   A rally and cultural programme was organized to mark the day. Headmistress, Lhaki Doma Bhutia, read out the messages of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Union HRDD Minister during the programme.
Pacha Saraswati Primary School celebrated the day with quiz competition, cultural programme, and a rally on RTE which saw participation from students, teachers, SMC president, MTA along with the school’s headmaster.
A class V student, Preeya Rai gave the welcome address while the headmaster, Ashok Gupta, read out the message of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of the state.
Government Primary School of Sawaney in West Pandam also observed the day with cultural activities and an awareness rally. Headmaster of Sawaney PS, Mohan Pradhan, gave the welcome address and read out the message of the Prime Minister while the message from the Chief Minister was read out by teacher, Ganesh Pradhan, and the Union HRDD Minister’s message by BR Subba.
Zilla Panchayat,West Pandam, Sunita Rai, was present as the chief guest of the day along with other distinguished guests
Burung JHS celebrated the Day in a cultural programme which had Advisor STCS, BB Lopchan as the chief guest. Headmaster, NT Bhutia spoke on the importance of education and the RTE Act while the chief guest emphasizing on the importance of education urged the villagers to cooperate for a better education system.
Posekey Primary School under Regu BAC also joined in the celebration with a programme which was attended by Chujachen Zilla Panchayat Member and president of the SMC, NK Pradhan as the chief guest. The programme also had retired Joint Director HRDD, KK Pradhan as the guest of honour and RDA Chujachen, Amber Gurung as the special guest.
Teacher, Chewang Choden Sherpa gave the welcome address and read out the messages of the Prime Minister while teacher, CL Sherpa read out the message of the Chief Minister.
The chief guest, in his address, spoke on the importance of education while the guest of honour spoke on the importance of the RTE Act and other educational schemes. A play on the need for compulsory education system ‘Sandesh’ written by teacher, LK Neopaney was also staged.
