Day long workshop on LImboo grammar organised

GANGTOK, 11 Nov: A day-long workshop on “Limboo Grammar: With special reference to the use of diacritical marks” was jointly organised by the Department of Limboo, Gyalshing Govt. College and the Limboo Language Trainees of DIET, Gyalshing, West Sikkim.
It is for the first time that such kind of ‘Workshop on Limboo Grammar’ has been organised by the newly established Limboo Department of Gyalshing Govt. College under the Department Head, Bhim B. Limboo, Assistant Professors and Limboo Language Teacher Trainees of DIET, Gyalshing. The programme started with the welcome speech by DS Limboo of DIET.
In the workshop, the main Resource Person as well as chief guest of the occasion was Sodhungen B. B. Muringla, Rtd. Additional Director, HRDD. Here it is worth mentioning that Sodhungen B. B. Muringla is one the prominent Writer, Grammarian, Lexicographer, Phonetician and living legend of Limboo community, literature and language. He informed about Limboo Grammar to the Limboo Language Teachers and students from different Govt. School. This for the second time that such type of workshop is being organised on Limboo Grammar and the said resource person has delivered his lecture on Limboo phonetics. There were more than 30 Limboo language teachers and 180 Limboo students of Limboo Deptt. Gyalshing Govt. College and  from different Government schools, like Pelling SSS, Geyging SSS, Lingchom SS, Darap SS, Sakyong SS, Langang JHS and the students of other schools of the vicinity who had attended the workshop.
The workshop was also attended by Assistant Professor as well as HoD of the Limboo Department, Sikkim Govt. College, Gangtok,Ash Muringla, and HoD of the Limboo Department, NGC, Buddhi L Khamdhak had also attended as well as the Assistant Professors Lepcha Departnment, Kachyo Lepcha and Sonam Rinchen Lepcha and Bhutia Department, Tshering Thendup Bhtuia and Thupten Palzang Bhutia. The two  HoDs of the Limboo Department, SGC and NGC, as the resource persons, Buddhi L Khamdhak and Ash Muringla made presentations on the ‘ Present Scenario of Limboo Language in Sikkim’ and ‘Problems and Solutions’ respectively.
