Training on Dairy and Piggery management concludes

GANGTOK, 16 Oct: Twenty-two trainees from different places of East Sikkim completed an intensive training on Dairy and Piggery Production and Management on 14 October at Animal Husbandry Department Extension & Training Centre, Deorali.
The three-day training was organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Livestock, Fisheries and Veterinary Services for members of self-help groups and educated unemployed youth.
The training, which started on 12 October, covered various subjects of breeds, feeds and feeding schedule, common diseases affecting livestock, prevention and control, bio- security etc.
The resource persons for the programme were Dr TP Lama, Kalpana Pradhan, Dr Sanjay Gajmer, Dr Kaurna Chhetri, Dr S Choden, Dr Indira Subba, Dr Renuka Chhetri from AH&VS and Senior AO from Cooperative Department, Rinzing Lepcha.
The valedictory function of the training on 14 October was chaired by AH&VS Secretary, DP Sharma accompanied by Additional Director [E&T], Dr NT Lepcha and Joint Director [E&T], Dr PK Pradhan.
In his valedictory address, the Secretary encouraged participants to adopt the scientific technology learnt in the training to increase livestock production in order to be self-reliant and self-employed.
The chief guest also assured the trainees every possible help from the Department to make livestock venture a sustainable means of livelihood.
He also interacted individually with the participants offering advice and sharing motivating thoughts.
Additional Director, Dr Lepcha also encouraged trainees to make better use of the knowledge gained from the training and share it with friends and neighbours on adoption of scientific rearing of livestock to increase productivity in the State.
The function was also addressed by Deputy Director [East], Dr Sangay Dorjee and Principal Training, Dr S Choden.
