Ex-servicemen meet in Jorethang

NAMCHI, 28 Sept: The General Meeting of Akhil Sikkim Ex-servicemen (Army) Welfare Sangh was held at Panchasheel Bhawan, Jorethang on 24 Sept chaired by Subedar CP Pradhan and with honorary Lieutenant PK Pradhan as chief guest.
The meeting thanked the government for providing 21 houses with repairing benefits to the Ex-army personnel of South District in 2010. On the occasion, the Sangh decided to place the demand of increase in educational scholarship from Rs 700 to 1500 and Rs. 10,000 for senior students.
Among the other demands of the Sangh was the increase of optical assistance to the Ex- servicemen and their family from Rs. 600 to 1500, appointments of more working members, assistance welfare officer and peon in Zilla Sainik Board, Zilla Sainik Bhawan in North Sikkim and the establishment of army school in Sikkim.
While delivering the welcome address, Havaldar RS Rai focused upon the formation of “Ex-army Legal Act Committee” of the Sangh. He further asked for cooperation from all ex-servicemen and their families to strengthen the Sangh.
Similarly Subedar AC Sharma, president of the Sangh in his address stated that till date government has fulfilled all the demands of the Sangh. He also urged the Ex-servicemen to extend all possible help to the victims of the recent earthquake.
Informing the meeting about A.DL.R Scheme, Mr. Sharma demanded for recruitment rally to be conducted in all four districts of Sikkim and informed that the next Annual General Meeting of the Sangh will be held at Soreng, West Sikkim.
The programme was also addressed by Nayak MB Rai, Subedar KB Pradhan, Havaldar DP Gurung and Havaldar HP Rai.
