GANGTOK, 08 Aug: United Sikkim Football Club thrashed Boy’s Club 8-0 in the inaugural match of the Independence Day Football Tournament for the Chogyal Sir Tashi Namgyal Memorial Cup here at Paljor Stadium today.
This was USFC’s first match of the season and it made a strong statement even without Bhaichung in the line-up. Bhaichung was in the stands though, cheering his team and interacting with fans.

But in the 12th minute, Tenzing Tsephel turned a cross from his teammate into the first goal and the first half concluded 1-0 in favour of USFC.
Again in the second half, keeping up a constant attack, Babatunde won another goal for the USFC in the 56th minute and completed his brace in the 63rd minute. Within four minutes, Hira Lall added one more goal.
Daniel blasted through the defence to score a phenomenal four goals in 17 minutes. He scored in the 70th, 74th, 81st and 87th minutes. With this win USFC has entered the semi-final round of the tournament knocking out Boy’s Club from the tournament.
