Public Info Campaign on Bharat Nirman begins in Ranka


GANGTOK, 28 April [IPR]: Minister for Rural Management and Development, Information and Public Relations Department, CB Karki, inaugurated the three-day Public Information Campaign on various flagship programmes of Government of India today at Block Administrative Centre, Ranka, East Sikkim. The programme has been organised by PIB, Gangtok, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Public Information Campaign is a regular calendar programme of PIB which disseminates information on the various flagship programmes of Government of India like MGNREGA, TSC, PMGSY, ARWSP, NRWDP, NRHM etc to the public.

In his inaugural address, the Minister, while appreciating the activities undertaken under MGNREGA in the state congratulated the officials involved in the scheme for successfully implementing the scheme in the state. This is having positive impact on the life of the rural people, he said.
At the same time the minister said that due to lack of adequate cooperation on the part of BSNL and the Post Office there is delay in the wage payment to the labourers. He cited the example of Sikip and Yangyang BAC where he had found that there was no internet connection. The wage payment under MGNREGA can only be done after its online entry in MIS. Upliftment of rural people has been the policy of this government since its formation, he said. He asked the people to look into the past and compare it with the present situation in the state.
“Though the process of development was not without difficulties but we are moving forward towards the path of development without looking back”, he added.
Chairman, Public Accounts Committee, Menlom Lepcha,  in his address said that due to many reasons people are at many times unaware of various activities undertaken by the government. Information is the key to development and such types of programmes play a major role in disseminating information to the people. He asked the people to take maximum benefit from this campaign and be informed. He also expressed his satisfaction over the activities undertaken under MGNREGA in the state and said that we should strive hard to do our best.
Gram Panchayat Sachiva, SB Rai, BDO, Ranka, Urvasi Poudyal and Dy. Secretary, MGNREGA, RMDD Suman Gurung also addressed the inaugural session.
