    1. Go through the rule of All India Service. It makes no difference even if the local do not opt IAS but centre will fill its quota ratio. It is a blunder made by the L.D Kazi-Sikkim Merger who could have asked for special status like J.K. It would be better to fill up the vacant post of state quota as soon as possible,so that the seniority maintains accordingly.Of course the young one should opt it but by vertue of his senirity, the young will not get the oppertunity nor it is permitted by UPSC.Thus the state will be looser if not opt by local

  2. The comment left above is most absurd and points to the writer's ignorance, not to speak of his/her ability to cloak jealousy in the garb of sarcasm. Senior bureaucrats from all over the country are inducted into the IAS. This is not an act of condescension but a recognition of years of service the bureaucrat has rendered in his/her home state. In Sikkim (as a testament to our benighted selves) there is this wrong notion that if a state cadre officer accepts induction into all india services, three officers from the centre rush to join the state. Thus this leads people to look upon the newly inducted officer as a traitor. Reality, let me assure you, is entirely different. There are 50 posts for IAS in our state. 1/3 of this number is filled jointly by state's initial cadre and inducted officers while the remaining number is filled by direct recruits. It is important to know that these numbers are sacrosanct, meaning, whether the state bothers to fill in its total strength of 16 state inductees or not, the centre will keep its total strength of direct recruits intact. I would like to congratulate the newly inducted IAS officers.
