Sangh MLA Sonam Lama of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, in a press release issued today on behalf of the six SKM MLAs, has expressed “shock” over what he terms the “passive approach” of the Raj Bhawan in discussing important issues proposed to be raised by the MLAs whose request for a meeting with the Governor remains allegedly ignored.
The press release explains that the “ensuing seat arrangement formula” for the municipal elections “has created a sense of complete disassociation amongst the people with regard to their political rights which if allowed happening shall only be repercussive to the greater national interest and security”. The six MLAs of the SKM faxed a letter seeking an “urgent appointment” with the Governor yesterday [13 September], the release claims, but even till this afternoon [as of 4:10 p.m. on 14 Sept], had received neither confirmation nor any communiqué from the Governor’s office on their request.
“The matter that we wanted to appraise the Hon’ble Governor is very sensitive as briefed in our fax. However, more unfortunate is that we, public representatives are not allowed audience by the Hon’ble Governor,” the release states while conveying the shock of the legislators “to see such passive approach of the Raj Bhawan and the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim on such vital issue”.
