The Sikkim Cabinet, in its sitting of 28 April, approved the dissolution of EIILM University proposed by the Human Resource Development Department under Section 47 of EIILM University Act, 2006. The private University’s promoters, it may be recalled had even moved the High Court some months back calling on the State Government to take over the controversy-riddled university. The promoters had subsequently withdrawn the petition and request, but matters at the university do not appear any closer to resolution, hence the govt’s decision to dissolve it.
As per the Cabinet decision, the Director, Higher Education at HRDD has been approved for appointment as Vice Chancellor in-charge of the University; Deputy Director, Higher Education as Registrar in-charge; HoD, Commerce, SGC/ Tadong as Controller of Examination in-charge of the University for the interim period required for completion of the process of dissolution.
Running the Management of EIILM University by the above mentioned officials during the interim period as per section 48 of EIILM University Act, 2006 and other relevant provisions. The secretarial staff for the same would be provided by the Directorate of Higher Education and Sikkim Government College, Tadong, the Cabinet has decided.

If the University is dissolved ,what happens to the degrees of the students who have already passed out of this university,will they be valid? How will some company verify them?

ReplyDeleteThere was a responsibility of Government and UGC too. they running every thing on the front of Government. Hope, Government will recognized the degrees which are already awarded as student take admission as it is listed by the Government and UGC.

Al degree subject to verification from Eiilm University , prior to scam in year 2013 Must be Valid as Eiilm was and is a UGC recognized University.

ReplyDeleteAll of us should request the dissolving authority for completion of the documents of the students enrolled till date. Issuence of degree documents is the major. Validation of these course is also the matter. You all know about the decision of hon'ble supreme court about validation of sikkim manipal university documents.

How people can play with students future in this way.Why they don't understand that how badly it will affect students life.They should understand that EIILM university name is showing under UGC so students did by checking all these things. UGC and government has to make valid degrees of EIILM. There is no mistake of students.......
