Electoral Rolls published, nearly 7K new voters since last election

GANGTOK, 06 Jan: The Electoral Rolls of all the 32 Assembly Constituencies of Sikkim were published on 05 January by the respective District Collectors, who are also ex officio District Electoral Registration Officers, an official press communiqué informs.
This was done after completion of the Special Summary Revision of the Electoral Rolls with reference to 1 January 2015 as the qualifying date. During the Summary Revision new eligible voters were enrolled in the voter list, names of voters who have passed away or have shifted out were removed from the voters list, errors corrected and transfer of names from one location to another was also carried out by the Electoral Registration Officers, the release adds.
After the disposal of all the applications received for addition, deletion, correction, transfer of names the final rolls as on 1.1.2015 was published on 5 Jan 2015.
As per the final rolls published, the total number of voters in Sikkim stands at 3,77,027, consisting of 1,93,758 male voters and 1,83,269 female voters. While the number of voters at the time of General Elections 2014 was 3,70,065, there has been a net addition of 6,962 voters during the Special Summary Revision  conducted in the months of October-November, 2014.
The Election Department has appealed to all electors of Sikkim to check whether  their names are recorded in the voters list or not by online searching facility provided in the CEO website  www.ceosikkim.nic.in or by dialing  ‘1950’ (Toll Free number) or by contacting the Election Cell available at BDO/SDM/DC Office. The electoral rolls will continue to be updated regularly by the Electoral Registration Officers. Anyone who wants to further add/delete/modify/transfer any entry in the electoral roll can apply for the same at the respective BDO/SDM/DC office during the office hours. The electors of Sikkim are also requested to ensure that their names are not recorded at more than one location in the electoral roll to avoid duplicate entries.
