MANGAN, 22 Aug: The Lanthey Khola, which is around 5 km short of Mangan towards Chungthang, got blocked today at around 4 p.m. due to a landslide triggered by the incessant rain. The road was also blocked at Meyong Khola near Naga about 10 kms from Mangan towards Chungthang on the same axis.
The two slides acted up in such inconvenient timing that the Governor’s entourage was caught between the two road blocks on their journey back to Gangtok this evening. As a result, Governor Shriniwas Patil, along with District officials and his entourage halted at Manul under Toong-Naga GPU for the night.
