Gangtok, 31 July [PIB]: Community Food & Nutrition Extension unit of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, in collaboration with the State Government, will celebrate the World Breast Feeding week from 01 to 04 August at Namchi, and at Gangtok from 05 to 07 August.
A symposium, “Disseminating Correct Norms on Infant Young Child Feeding Practices & During Emergencies”, is scheduled to be held at the District Hospital, Namchi on 02 August which more than 50 participants from various state government departments like HRDD, Agriculture, ICDS and Health are expected to attend.
Kapil Mina, Additional District Collector, South District, will attend as chief guest and Bharati Basnett, Deputy Director (Nutrition) South District, will preside over the function. On the occasion, various programme like live nutrition demonstration, recipe, healthy baby and quiz competition will also be organized. The theme chosen for this year is “Breast Feeding - A Winning Goal For Life”.
