GANGTOK, 07 July: For those of us who can only dream of watching a World Cup football match live, an experience that hopes to come very close is the screening of the semis and final match of the FIFA World Cup 2014 on a giant screen at Paljor Stadium. This World Cup, Gangtokians have the chance to witness the World Cup matches starting 09 July live on a 30x20 feet HD screen.
The event, titled ‘Brazuca at Paljor’, is being organized by Gangtok-based SB Advertising in association with Gangtok-based New Image ADs and Siliguri-based Assent Network. The matches will be screened on the giant screen with JBL sound boxes and promises good screen resolution as well.
The first semi-final on 09 July at 1:30 AM followed by second semi-final on 10 July at 1:30 AM and final match on 14 July at 12:30 AM of the World Cup 2014 will be shown on the giant screen.
Arjuna Awardee Archer, Olympian Tarundeep Rai is the brand ambassador of the event, and is likely to watch the final match at Paljor Stadium.
Addressing a press conference today, the organizers mentioned that such an event is being organised for the first time in the state and the entire North Bengal region. The press conference was addressed by Pawan Pradhan of SB Advertising, Joseph Lepcha of New Image ADs and Anupam Gupta of Assent Networks.
They added that this event also offers people a chance to win prizes on the tickets through a lucky draw. The tickets cost Rs 50 each with the opportunity to win four Royal Enfield motorcycles and six LED television sets along with other surprise gifts.
It is informed that the gates will open at 10 PM and feature the highlights and repeat telecast of earlier matches before the actual match. The organizers have also arranged 25 security personnel while arrangements for security from the state police are also under process.
The organisers inform that ticket sales are underway all over the State as well as in Siliguri, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Mirik and other parts of the neighboring hills. “It is a celebration of football to keep the football fever and craze alive,” they said.
The organizers also plan to donate some part of the money raised to an Old Age Home in Ranipool and footballs and jerseys to the State Sports Academy players.
