GANGTOK, 22 July: SP West, DB Giri is the new SP East following the transfer of the incumbent, Manoj Tiwari, to the Vigilance department as SP.
Following Mr. Tiwari's transfer, a slew of other transfers have also been put into effect. SP/SB Hari Prasad Chettri has been made SP West while Commandant Sikkim Armed Police, Tashi Wangyal is the new SP South.
CO 3rd IRBn, Hem Raj Rai is the new SAP Commandant while SP Vigilance, Sammi Rai has replaced SP/SB Hari Prasad Chettri.
Mr. Tiwari, it may be recalled, is in the eye of the ongoing college student protest in which the students have been demanding his suspension for his role in the lathicharge on students on 14 July.
