NO GRIEVOUS INJURIES ON THREE DAYS OF POLICE ACTION

All injured students discharged, CRH clarifies
ONLY PERSON STILL UNDER TREATMENT WAS A BYSTANDER
GANGTOK, 16 July: The Central Referral Hospital here at Tadong has issued a press statement today clarifying that all students who had come to the hospital for treatment on 14 and 15 July have been discharged. The hospital has informed that five students and two members of the general public were admitted in the emergency ward of the hospital on 14 and 15 July following the lathicharge and tear gassing at Tadong.
Dispelling rumours of a fatality that had started circulating on Tuesday, the hospital has reiterated that the five students had come to the hospital with minor injuries and were discharged after being administered adequate treatment. Only one person, who is not a student but was part of the general public and had sustained head injuries in a fall during the tear gas attack is presently admitted at CRH and under treatment, it is informed.
On 14 July, four persons came to the Emergency of CRH with minor injuries at around 7:30 pm. They were Hari Prasad Sharma (20, student, male), Manoj Gupta (25, student, male), Pawan Kumar Gupta (20, student, male) and Ongden Bhutia (26, male, general public). They had sustained minor injuries during the clash with the police. They received all required treatment and were discharged the same evening.
On 15 July, three persons came to the Emergency with complaints of breathlessness at around 6:45 pm. Two were students from Sikkim Government College, Tadong. They were Kelsang Doma (22, female) and Chuki Lepcha (22, female). One person, Depen Cintury (19, male, general public) came in with cut injury.
The two students received all required treatment for inhalation of tear gas and were duly discharged from the Hospital after both recovered, a CRH release informs. Depen Cintury meanwhile is admitted at the male surgical ward of CRH for treatment of his cut injury.
