Marathon Man takes up 12-hour Stadium Run challenge at Bengaluru

GANGTOK, 30 July: Marathon Man of Sikkim, Amar Subba left for Bengaluru today to participate in the 12-Hour Stadium Run to be held at Kanteerava Stadium on 03 August. He is the only long distance runner from the entire North-Eastern region to have qualified for this Extreme Endurance Challenge that will be held from 6 AM to 6 PM on 03 August.
More than 50 runners are expected to participate in this event which is being organized by Shriram Properties Bengaluru Marathon.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, the 45-year-old said that he was all set to make it to the top-10 in this first ever 12-hour stadium marathon. He mentioned that on the basis of his past performances and achievements he was shortlisted by the organizers for this event.
“My target is to run at least 120 kilometers in these 12 hours and finish in the top 3 of the marathon,” he expressed.
Mr. Subba shared that for this challenge, he trained in Jorethang, Siliguri and other places in Sikkim which have climate similar to that of Bengaluru. He also thanked everyone who has supported him for this event.
He went on to add that there is a lot of scope and opportunities in long distance running and one just needs to focus and give consistent performances.
Popularly known as the “Marathon Man” of Sikkim, Amar Subba has already set a record in the Limca Book of Records in 2012 for successfully completing a solo marathon covering 440 km along the foothills of the Himalayas and areas such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Siliguri and Dooars in 7 days. He has been participating and winning prizes in different prestigious marathons across the country apart for running for social causes.
