GANGTOK, 05 June: The Football Clubs Association of Sikkim [FCAS] has give the Sikkim Football Association time till 08 June, Sunday, to shed some of its obvious arrogance and come through on demands raised by FCAS, some of which SFA has already agreed to. Should SFA continue ignoring these demands and not fulfill them by Sunday, all 16 teams [eight each in First and Second Divisions of Sikkim League] will boycott SFA hosted tournaments.
An FCAS press communiqué issued by its general secretary Phurba Sherpa informs that at a meeting held on 10 May, SFA had agreed to grant membership to one representative each from all clubs which have been participating in the local league continuously for the past five years.
This, the release claims, was to be done before the 2nd Division League began. With the tournament expected to begin on 07 June, Saturday, and still no intimation on the membership openings, the football clubs are clearly upset.
They have now reiterated four more demands: the presence of SFA officials during all matches of the different tournaments; SFA membership to qualified clubs; provision of doctors, ambulance and safe drinking water during matches; and allowing only 3 under-19 players for second division football matches against the present requirement of at least 10.
These demands, the release informs, have already been communicated to the executive officials of the SFA.
