Training on Disaster Management concludes

GANGTOK, 30 May [IPR]: Five-day training programme on Disaster Management Course concluded this afternoon with the valedictory address of Relief Commissioner cum Secretary Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department, CT Wangdi at the training hall of Accounts & Administrative Training Institute, Gangtok.
The programme was organized by Accounts & Administrative Training Institute in coordination with the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority under Department of Land Revenue & Disaster Management from 26-30 May. Altogether 25 State Nodal Officers from various departments took part in the training programme.
Addressing the programme, Relief Commissioner CT Wangdi urged all the Nodal Officers to constitute a prepared system within each department for immediate response to any disaster. Highlighting on Disaster Risk Reduction he stated “having better preparedness can save human lives”.
Emphasizing on general awareness, the Relief Commissioner urged all the participants to share what they have learnt in the training during gram sabhas. He also handed over certificates of participation to all the participants. While interacting with the trainees, Principal Director, Deepak Darnal said, “If we motivate ourselves we can motivate others towards Disaster Management”.
Topics like ‘Role of Govt. in Disaster Management’,  Act & Rules, Preparation of plan, Vulnerability of Sikkim to Disaster, Role of Society & SDRF, UNDP Programme on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation, Incident Response System, etc were discussed during the training.
The participants also thanked organizers for providing them such informative and educative training.
