GANGTOK, 12 May:
A 53-year-old woman has reportedly committed suicide by hanging on Sunday. The
deceased was a resident of Assam Lingzey and the dead body has been forwarded
to the Central Referral Hospital, Tadong for post mortem.
In another case, a 40-year-old man attempted to commit
suicide by hanging on 11 May at Chuba in South Sikkim. Fortunately, he was
found alive although in serious condition by his elder brother and brought to
District Hospital Namchi in an unconscious state.
A case under section 309 [attempt to commit suicide] has
been registered against him at the Namchi Police Station and the case is under
investigation.
