GANGTOK, 23 May: SDF candidate from Upper Burtuk, DR Thapa
has conveyed his gratitude towards everyone who voted for him in the recently
concluded assembly polls. Mr. Thapa was defeated by SKM president, PS Tamang
[Golay] by a slim margin of 573 votes from this rather large constituency of
more than 12,000 voters.
Mr. Thapa congratulated Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, his Cabinet
colleagues and MLAs on being elected to the ninth Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
He further expressed hope that during the record fifth term in power, the SDF
party will definitely endorse pro-people policies and programmes in the next
five years.
Accepting his defeat and people’s mandate, he said that
despite the loss he would continue to work for the people of the constituency.
