Melli GPUs conduct peaceful rallies

GANGTOK, 09 Apr: SDF supporters from all the Gram Panchayats under Melli constituency carried out rallies around their respective GPUs today. This was part of the “SDF Hour” initiative of the party called across the state from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The “SDF Hour” was billed as “sixty minutes for Sikkim’s peace, security and development”.

All six Gram Panchayat Units of the constituency viz Melli Dara Paiyong GPU, Turuk Ramabong GPU, Sadam Suntoley GPU, Sumbuk Kartikey GPU, Lungchok Kamerey GPU and Kitam Manpur GPU organized peaceful rallies.

A press release informs that a meeting was also organized at Sukrabarey Bazaar chaired by SDF candidate for Melli, Tulshi Devi Rai. In her address, Ms Rai urged the people and the youth brigade to strictly follow the ideologies of SDF party which she said has always worked for the upliftment of the poor. She also urged party workers to maintain peace and harmony in the state.

Ms Rai lambasted the opposition for propagating the politics of violence and spreading terror in the state, the release mentions. The so-called opposition party is intimidating people, vandalizing public properties and passing derogatory remarks against women, she alleged and urged the people to vote for SDF and ensure peace, security and holistic development in the state, the release adds.
