Chamling campaigns in Kabi-Lungtsok, reiterates commitment to deliver on demands SAGAR CHHETRI

GANGTOK, 06 Apr: Addressing people of Kabi-Lungtsok constituency today, Sikkim Democratic Front president, Pawan Chamling announced that monastic teachers [Lopen] and Sanskrit teachers will be regularized and provided pay-scale at par with Primary teachers in the next SDF government. Mr. Chamling promised that he will take the full responsibility to deliver on the general demands and development of the area. With today’s impressively well-attended meeting, the official round of campaign meetings of the SDF has ended. There is however one public meeting left, the one scheduled for Jorethang which was rescheduled earlier and is now expected to be held in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, in his address today, Mr. Chamling informed that in the next government, the Tara Devi Mandir at Tingda would be completed, Tourist view point developed at Lingdok, all required roads in the area sanctioned, Bojoghari reverted to a panchayat ward from a municipal area, amongst others.
He also assured to create a big tourist centre in the constituency to create opportunities for people of the constituency.
The SDF president said that the next government would continue its attempts to bring Karmapa to Rumtek. The SDF government has been persistently pursuing the matter with the centre, sending delegations and writing to concerned ministries for the past 20 years, he added. Mr Chamling further stated that the SDF government has worked beyond expectations for Buddhists of the state by erecting statues, monasteries and monastic schools apart from other programmes and benefits for the community.
Speaking on the various programmes and initiatives for BL students, he shared that he wanted to make them competitive and successful in every field.
Taking on the opposition, Mr Chamling alleged that the SKM has been trying to mislead the people on various issues and making false promises. After the formation of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha the state has been witnessing various acts of violence like vandalism, murders and anti-social activities, he alleged further adding that bringing such a party to power would not be good for the state.
A political party should have principles, programmes and ideology and a group of anti-social elements cannot be called a party, said Mr Chamling. He urged support from the people in order to maintain peace in the state.
On the day, the TMC candidate from Zoom-Salghari, Tara Chand Lohagan along with his supporters joined the SDF party.
The meeting was also addressed by SDF Lok Sabha candidate, PD Rai and Kabi-Lungtsok candidate, TT Bhutia.
