GANGTOK, 21 Mar [IPR]: Eight candidates of Sikkim Democratic
Front, including the party’s Lok Sabha candidate, filed their nomination papers
today in the office of the District Collector, East who is the Returning Officer
for the district.
East district has 12 territorial constituencies and the
nomination papers for the Lok Sabha and the Sangha are also filed here. This
means six SDF candidates are yet to file nominations for the remaining
constituencies of the East district. This, party sources inform, could not be
done today because time ran out and will be undertaken on Saturday and
completed latest by Monday.
The candidates who filed their nominations today are Somnath
Poudyal for Khamdong Singtam, KK Thatal for West Pendam [SC], DT Lepcha for
Gnathang Machong [BL], Bek Bahadur Rai for Namcheybong, Bhasker Basnett for
Upper Tadong, KT Gyaltsen for Shyari [BL], Bikram Pradhan for Chujachen and PD
Rai for the Lok Sabha seat.
The nomination papers still pending are of Bhim Dhungel for
Rhenock; Menlom Lepcha for Martam-Rumtek; Uday Lama for Arithang; Hissey
Lachungpa for Gangtok; DR Thapa Upper Burtuk; and Palden Lachungpa for the
Sangha.
