GANGTOK, 17 Feb: The Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee general
secretary [social media and communication] cum vice chairperson [media], Doncee
Lama, has submitted her resignation to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi. She
will soon be joining the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Ms. Lama informs in a press
release. She was scheduled to join the party today but could not since she has
developed health problems and is under treatment in Delhi, the release details.
On the reasons behind quitting the Congress, Ms. Lama states
that she was dejected when her best efforts to work for the party and the
Sikkimese people were met with unconcern and inaccessibility of the central
leadership which appeared unmoved by the regional concerns and problems of
Sikkim.
She goes on to contend that “certain elements” in the AICC
and SPCC maintained “indirect approach and lobby” with the SDF Government and
mislead both, the people and the party leadership.
