BJP’s ‘Ek Note, Kamal par Vote’ campaign to launch in Sikkim too

GANGTOK, 07 Feb: The state executive committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janta Party Sikkim unit held today discussed various issues regarding the upcoming 2014 Assembly and Parliamentary elections. The meeting also decided various future programmes of the party in the state.
The meeting was attended by Sikkim state in-charge of the party, Dr. Dineshanand Goswami, organization secretary for North Bengal, Sikkim and entire North East region, Panchanan Raut, state-unit president, Padam Chettri and other executive members of the state-unit.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Dr Goswami said that the state executive committee meeting was held to discuss preparations for the assembly and parliamentary elections in the state and future programmes for the state. He expressed that the people of Sikkim have also been looking forward to see Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country.
He informed that Sikkim would also be joining the nation-wide 'Ek Note, Kamal par Vote' campaign from 11 February. In this week-long door-to-door campaign in the state, the party workers will visit every house asking for donation of one currency note [of any denomination] and appealing for support. Dr Goswami mentioned that party workers would also distribute pamphlets carrying the appeal of the BJP president, Rajnath Singh. He stated that this was an attempt to reach the masses of the state.
Likewise, the party is also installing Namo Tea stalls at all four district headquarters of the state on 12 February along with television sets in which Narendra Modi’s interaction with the masses will be screened. The party will also be holding a seminar for party workers at the booth level in the first week of March.
The meeting has also appointed former state unit president, HR Pradhan as the convener for Lok Sabha. “We will be fighting seriously in the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections. The people of the state are also excited to see Modi as the next Prime Minister of the country”, said Dr Goswami. He informed that the BJP plans to win 272 plus seats for an absolute majority in the coming election.
He appealed to the Sikkimese people to support Narendra Modi for Prime Minister. “Even Narendra Modi has given priority to the development of the North East region and its people. The BJP government will work for the overall development of Sikkim and the entire North-Eastern region”, he added.
While responding to media queries on the security of North-Eastern people in Delhi, Dr Goswami stated that BJP would create a safe atmosphere for the NE people with its good governance to avoid incidents like the recent death of an Arunachali student.
Responding to queries on possible alliances in the state, he stated that the central body has been getting invitations for alliances from the regional parties of the state and it is upto the central body to decide on them.
