Letter:-
Five years have passed since the last election in Sikkim. It is time for us to choose the next Government – a Government that will fulfill the aspirations of the common man. A Government that will have consistency in its words and actions. We all know that election is a democratic process which holds far more significance for the people than for leaders and political parties. It is the vote of the people; it is the mandate of the people that decides the formation of a particular Government.
The most critical aspect is to recognise and choose the best leader and party because the Government will be a sheer reflection of the party and the leader.
It is not surprising that wolves in sheep’s clothing roam around and try to lure people during election season. These people have an uncanny knack of misleading, misguiding and confusing the people with false hopes and hollow promises. They promise the people the moon and the stars. They use caste, community and religious sentiments to gain some brownie points for themselves. What an irony! But it is a democratic right and responsibility of the people to choose their leaders wisely and sensibly. Wrong choices can lead to irreversible damage both for the people and the State. People have to understand that election is perhaps the most important event in a democratic set up. Elections have the power to make or break the future of the people! So I urge all my fellow Sikkimese to make the right choice – for their better tomorrow!
