ASSA organizes awareness prog for North Sikkim students

MANGAN, 29 Jan: All Sikkim Students Association (ASSA), organized awareness programme for North district students on 28 January at Mangan Senior Secondary School, Auditorium Hall. The programme was chaired by Joint Director, HRDD North, Sonam Lepcha accompanied by president ASSA, Pritam Singh from Gangtok, vice president, Tsheten Nodu Lepcha, general secretary, Kundhy Pema Lachungpa, Principal NSA, NP Kazi, Principal, MSSS, members of the association and approximately 300 students.
The programme started with a welcome address by the vice president highlighting the importance of the programme and how to further the talents of the students. He also stated that, ASSA is creating a positive environment and providing exposure to talented students.
The resource person from ITC, HIV/AIDS, Mangan hospital, Ganga P Subedi, informed about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STI) and urged the gathering not to discriminate against infected persons in the society. He also gave information on prevention of HIV/AIDS.
Nima Tshering Bhutia of MSSS performed a solo song, Aayush Gajmer, little Michael Jackson of North district performed an MJ dance, the ASSA members from Gangtok also performed solo songs and other cultural programmes were also staged by students.
The chief guest, in his address, informed that the HRDD North and North Sikkim Academy is providing free winter coaching classes for the students of class X and above. He said that ASSA is doing good work for students and stressed on the importance of positive relations between students and teachers.
Principal, NSA, in his address appreciated ASSA’s efforts in conducting such awareness programmes. He further urged students to study hard and also participate in extra curriculum activities.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by general secretary, ASSA, Kundhy Pema Lachungpa.
