ASHAs begin six-day training REBYNA RANA

GANGTOK, 27 Jan: The State Health Society, NRHM, Sikkim is organizing a six-day District ASHA Training Module-3 Round for State of Sikkim 2013-14 which started today here at the STNM Hospital, European Union Hall.
A total of 24 ASHAs and PRI [Panchayati Raj Institution] members of the Village Health & Sanitation Committees from all four districts of the state participated in the training. The training will conclude on 01 February 2014.
The resource persons for the six-day training are Mission Director for NRHM, Dr. PM Pradhan, State Facilitator for NRHM, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Nabin Sharma, two Psychiatrists from Singtam and Gyalshing and 3 State ASHA trainers [two from Namchi and one from Gangtok].
The first day of the training had the Re-orientation of Round 1+2 Module, Theory & Practical Assessment [Exam], and Module 6 Skills that Save Lives [Reference] as well.
Addressing the inaugural session of the training, Mission Director for NRHM, Dr. PM Pradhan, said that we must first teach ourselves to train others especially teaching adult children is a challenge we must take on.
If ASHAs are trained successfully then they can further train others, he said. Stressing on the importance of mental health he expressed that it is a major health problem and added that there is the need to understand ourselves, our society and community better.
Dr Pradhan congratulated all the ASHAs of Sikkim for their effort and contribution towards the state.
Similarly, State Facilitator for NRHM, Nabin Sharma, spoke about the objectives of the training.
Also present on the day were Program Assistant, Ranju Pradhan and Dr. Bela Cintury.
