NAMCHI, 07 Oct: A week-long programme to mark the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day & Week was organized by the Voluntary Blood Donors Association of Sikkim (VBDAS) in collaboration with Young Star United Club, Zambu Dara, Soreng, West Sikkim. The programme was sponsored by State Blood Transfusion Council, Gangtok.
During the programme regular blood donors, college and school students of South and West Sikkim who have contributed for the noble cause by donating their blood were felicitated. The regular blood donors who were felicitated were DK Rai of Mickhola, Kishore Baniya Co-coordinator of Red Ribbon Club South and West, Gokul Rai of Bikmat, Shadew Chettri of Namchi, and Suraj Rai of Dodak-Ben.
The Boys Senior Secondary School Namchi and Senior Secondary School Geyzing were felicitated along with Government Degree College Gyalshing. Red Ribbon Clubs of Temi Tarku and Tshering Basti and Sant Nirankari Mandal Jorethang were among the NGOs felicitated. Various activities were also organized like essay writing competition which was held at Buriakhop Senior Secondary School West Sikkim, painting competition at Sreebadam Senior Secondary School West Sikkim, poetry competition at Soreng Senior Secondary School West Sikkim along with motivational programme on voluntary blood donation.
The programme was participated by the school heads, teachers, members of NGOs and government departments and members of VBDAS. The motivational programme on voluntary blood donation was organized at Soreng, Buriakhop, Sreebadam Senior Seconday Schools and also in Martam BAC and Zambu Dara West Sikkim. The theme of the entire programme was Voluntary Blood Donation. In connection with this programme a voluntary blood donation will be held in a grand manner at Soreng West Sikkim on 08 October.
