Durga Mandir inaugurated at Rang Rang

MANGAN, 30 Oct: Power Minister Sonam Gyatso Lepcha inaugurated a Durga Mandir here at Rang Rang in North Sikkim on 28 October. He was accompanied by DC North, CP Dhakal, SP North, RN Yadav, President and councilor of Mangan Nagar Panchayat, Headmaster and teachers of Rang Rang JHS, panchayat members and local populace.
The Durga Mandir was established in the year 1999. A short function was held after the inauguration where one of the founder members of the mandir, Doma Tamang informed about the mandir’s history. MB Thapa highlighted about the construction of the mandir and expressed gratitude to well-wishers and donors who have extended support in the mandir’s construction.
Also during the function, the mandir committee felicitated Gyami Tamang who donated land for the mandir.
DC North, CP Dhakal in his address, urged the youth to stay away from drugs and alcohol and focus on making their future better.
The Minister said that the SDF government has provided equal benefits to all religions in Sikkim and further urged all towards maintaining unity and brotherhood in the state. Rang Rang can be developed into a model village and the people of the area should join hands in making this possible, he said. The Minister further spoke on the Sanskrit Mahavidhyalay established at Samdong in East Sikkim.
On the occasion, the chief guest and other guests also offered prayers in the mandir.
