SDF meeting reviews recently held youth awareness programs

GANGTOK, 13 Sept: The ruling Sikkim Democratic Front [SDF] party, East district committee held a review meeting today to discuss various issues raised during the Yuva Jagaran Abhiyan and Yuva Sachetna Karyakram held across the state.
In a press release, Churamani Mishra informs that the party held around 100 meetings under the Yuva Jagaran Abhiyan and Yuva Sachetna Karyakram in the East district. During the meetings various shortcomings related to the party affairs and government programmes were discussed which the party has taken positively, he informs.
The meeting today was chaired by party vice president, D T Lepcha, who told party functionaries that at the moment they have to guide young voters in the right direction. This he said is going to be a tough challenge looking at the response from the Yuva Jagaran Abhiyan and Yuva Sachetna Karyakrams.
K B Chamling said that the SDF government’s economic upliftment programme through ‘Cooperative Societies’ has not been working as intended and suggested that it be reviewed.
He also urged party leaders and workers to connect with the rural people and added that most of the party offices opened in the rural areas have to be functional since it is the only means of connecting with the people and party workers at large.
The meeting also discussed the necessary modalities to be put in place for joining SDF party, review of the Pakyong Yuva Sachetna Karyakram and coordination within the party ranks.
The meeting was also addressed by J K Bhandari, Karma Ongmu Bhutia, K N Topgay, G M Gurung, Sakun Gurung, Kunga Zangpo Bhutia, G M Gurung [Rhenock] Meena Ghising.
