Rhenock and Chujachen public form committee to develop area

GANGTOK, 30 May: With the aim to adopt a collective responsibility approach in all sectors of development and to place their grievances and ideas to the government and the departments concerned, the residents of Rhenock and Chujachen constituencies jointly constituted a team of ten members on 29 May.
The team constituted is headed by Aritar Gram Panchayat Unit [GPU] President Dhiren Gurung along with representatives from NGOs, SHGs, government employees and youth from the said constituencies.
It is informed that the developments required and the problems faced in the sectors like tourism, road, drinking water supply and many more would be initiated by the committee on behalf of the general public. The committee will also approach the concerned department and the State government as and when inputs are required, it was added.
Addressing the media, President Aritar GPU, Mr Gurung stated that the committee is constituted for the collective benefit and welfare of the mentioned constituencies in all sectors. The committee on behalf of the general public and their grievances will approach the department concerned and even the State government for its development and necessities. No personal grievances or demands would be placed by any member while meeting the departmental heads or the State government, it was mentioned.
The committee even believes that the sense of responsibility needs to be shouldered by every individual to attain holistic development of the state as visioned by the Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.
Adding more, during the same programme the Aritar GPU also felicitated one barefoot engineer Sukbir Pradhan for his selfless service rendered to the GPU. Aritar GPU President, Mr Gurung informed that Mr Pradhan, who had been looking after the supply of drinking water for the GPU, has rendered his best and selfless service since 1997 till 2012 and during his tenure no house hold in the GPU went scarce for water. The source of the water supply is the Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary and Mr Pradhan carried out his daily routine even during rainy season or during a natural calamity.
He worked on a contractual pay scale but now has been absorbed in the Indian Reserve Battalion. “We the people of Aritar GPU wish him luck for his successful life ahead,” added President Gurung.
