CANDIDATE COMPLAINS OF TOO SHORT A NOTICE, WANTS WRITTEN TEST POSTPONED
GANGTOK, 11 March: The recruitment process at Sikkim University, a formal complaint against which has already been placed with the Executive Council of the university by a section of the faculty, has attracted another complaint, this time by a candidate who had applied for the post of Junior Executive [LDC].
Bibhash Kumar from Purnea had applied for the vacancy [announced in Jan 2012], and has now written to the Registrar, Sikkim University, calling for the written test [scheduled for 11 March] to be postponed. His reason, as cited in the letter, copies of which were forwarded to NOW!– he was informed of the test over the phone barely a week ago and at the time of writing to the University [10 March], had still not received the admit card.
Detailing that the short notice and the still-awaited admit card had left him in a situation where he could not make travel arrangement in time, apart from the fact that this also did not leave with enough time to prepare, he informs that he will not be attending the written test and has sought that the exam be postponed. He has asked for the written test to be re-notified, with ample time provided to candidates to prepare for the test and make travel and accommodation arrangements. It will be interesting to learn whether others too were similarly discomfited by the last-minute call.
Again!! but how come these letters and missives reach just Sikkim Now and no other newpaper office???? Have u got a insider doing the outsider job there. Evn the faculty recruitment story was flased by yr paper only!! How come??
ReplyDeleteAlthough we do not normally engage in the comments section (which is left exclusive for readers and visitors), some valid points have been raised in the above comment which could do with some clarification, so here goes:
ReplyDeleteYes, NOW was lucky to have an exclusive on the recruitment mess at SU. But we were lucky not because we had exclusive access to the original complaint (related to appointment of teachers)or even this one. We were lucky because all other newspapers decided to ignore the story. The press release, which included copies of the complaint to the Executive Council, all supporting documents and contact details of the complainants, were emailed to all newspapers in Sikkim (clear from the cc details in the mail we received). The next day, however, only we had published the story. NOW felt that it was an important story, others didn't.
Hey!! this sure is a great change ...to have yr queires answered!! and am grateful for that and sure shows a positive side to the arena of reporting!! and ya keep us updated.....and not to mention...i definitely like this comments option that u have inserted !! great going and keep up the good work,,,tho at most times , seems like the uploader is sleeping and does it randomly and at his/her will...what ever...it got me aquainted with the SU story !!!
