Upreti demands ‘thorough probe’ into NEMSICS

GANGTOK, 03 Jan: Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee’s senior vice president, KN Upreti, has expressed ‘serious concern’ over the affairs of North Eastern Multi State Insurance Co operative Society [NEMSICS] and has demanded a ‘thorough probe’ into the workings of the cooperative society which has scammed many with its dubious schemes and offers.

In a press release issued today, Mr. Upreti has demanded that the ‘main person’ behind NEMSICS should be brought to book and action taken against him.
“Since the SDF government has come to power in the state, under the patronage of so called leaders of the ruling party, Sikkim has become a haven for fake companies which have and are swindling crores of rupees from the innocent and simple local depositors/ investors,” the release alleges.
Mr. Upreti further alleges that the Government could not take any action as its “own people were involved in the scandals” and demands that serious action be taken against the culprit in the public interest “so that the story of Tina Finlease, Bharosa Pvt. Ltd and Sidhi Bank Ltd is not repeated now and again”.
