Tingchim-Mangshila convenes Gram Sabha


MANGAN, 02 Dec:  Tingchim-Mangshila GPU of North Sikkim today convened a Gram Sabha at the Gram Prashasan Kendra, Mangshila.  The Gram Sabha was presided over by Panchayat President, Padam Singh Limbu, and was also attended by BDO [Mangan], ST Tamang, Zilla member Zomin Limboo, Panchayats of the various wards, Field Facilitator, vigilance committee, ward level and block level committee members, Headmaster of feeder schools, ASHA and Aganwadi workers, Panchayat Education Assistants (PEA), representatives of line department and the general public.

At the very start, Panchayat Secretary Sarki Lama, in his welcome address, highlighted the urgent need of repairs at the Gram Prashasan Kendra.
The Panchayat of Tibuk ward, Dilli Ram Limboo, in turn, highlighted the shortage of medical staff at the Dikchu PHC, pointing out that the PHC is being managed by a sole doctor when at least two should have been posted there. There was shortage of other personnel at the PHC as well, he added.
The Panchayat president urged the line departments for timely sanction of demands and resolutions passed for the GPU.
The BDO focussed his address on explaining the Backward Regions Grant Fund (BRGF), preparation of Prospective Plans for the 12th Five Year Plan Period (2012-2017) and Annual Plans for the village.
Similarly, the Deputy Director, Food & Civil Supplies Department, Mangan, Bachung Lepcha, informed the review process of BPL families and explained the criteria for selecting beneficiaries for the Mukhya Mantri Khadhya Surakcha Abhiyan. He also urged the Panchayat members to delete the names of deceased persons from the list of beneficiaries.
Likewise, the ARCS, Cooperative, BR Subba, spoke at length about the need, role and prospects of cooperative society.
Zilla member, Zomin Limboo, reminded the Gram Sabha of ensuring that decisions were people centric and in support of income generation. He also focused on the issue of drinking water supply in the area. The ward panchayats of respective wards highlighted their demands like construction of RCC bridges, public meeting halls, protective walls, fencing, jhora training works, green houses, cardamom plantations, fish farm, piggeries, CC Footpath and the construction of Buddha statue and temple at Thingchim lake.
The Sabha concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Panchayat president. The Gram Sabha for Namok-Swayem GPU was also held today.
