SIRD holds second training for Trainers on PRI Accounting Software


GANGTOK, 30 Nov: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), in consultation with Comptroller & Auditor General (C&AG) has developed a Model Accounting System [MAS] for the Panchayati Raj Institutions across the country in order to ensure transparency and accountability within the Panchayati Raj system.
Based on this Model Accounting System [MAS] the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, GoI, has also launched an online software viz Panchayati Raj Institutions Accounting Software [PRIASoft].
A press release from the State Institute of Rural Development [SIRD], Karfectar, informs that the Rural Management & Development Department (RM&DD), Govt. of Sikkim, has already taken initiatives to implement this software in the state.
The hardware requirements and internet connectivity at various Gram Panchayats and Zilla Panchayats are being addressed and the first batch of ‘Training of Trainers’ on MAS-PRIASoft for State and Zilla/District Accounting Officials was also completed in the month of April 2011.
Another batch of “Training of Trainers on MAS-PRIASoft for Accounting Officials of Zilla & Gram Panchayats” was organized by the Rural Management & Development Department (RM&DD) in collaboration with SIRD and National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi from 28 - 30 Nov at the SIRD campus, the release informs.
The training programme was inaugurated by Additional Director (Accounts), RM&DD, HP Sharma, in the presence of Director IA/LFA, LB Rai, Additional Director, SIRD, HK Sharma, Chief Accounts Officer, RM&DD, Kumar Bardewa and Joint Director, SIRD, Bishal Rai.
According to the release, Mr Bardewa gave an overview of the Model Accounting System while Mr HP Sharma stressed on the importance of this accounting system and motivated the participants to adopt both the accounting system as well as PRIASoft.
Saleeth Nisar and Bipin Kumar from IAP, New Delhi were the key resource persons for the programme which was attended by Joint Directors, Sr. Accounts Officers, Accounts Officers and Sr. Accountant from all four Zilla Panchayats and District Administrative Centres, Senior Officials from IA/LFA Department and Panchayat Accounts Assistants (PAAs) of South and North District Gram Panchayat Units, the release mentions.
The training concluded with a programme summary by Mr Bardewa and closing address by Director IA/LFA, LB Rai and Additional Director, SIRD, HK Sharma.
