Rakdong Tintek holds Gram Sabha

RENEWAL AND ISSUE OF TRADE LICENSES TO BEGIN 19 DEC
LOWER RAKDONG, 13 Dec: The renewal and issue of new trade licenses for rural areas under Rakdong-Tintek GPU will start from 19 December from the Gram Prashasan Kendra at Lower Rakdong as per the new notification of the government.

Fresh trade licenses will be issued to unemployed locals who are willing to start their own business, but the Gram Panchayat will not allow subletting of licenses to outsiders in the villages. This resolution was unanimously passed during the Gram Sabha of Rakdong-Tintek GPU today.
The Gram Sabha was presided over by Panchayat President, Ganden Lepcha and was attended by BDO Tintek BAC, Tenzing Dorjee Denzongpa, Panchayat members of respective wards, representatives of line departments, block level and ward level committee, Field Facilitator and the general public.
The ward panchayats of respective wards highlighted their demands related to the development of the village like construction of RCC Bridge, protective wall, provision of drinking water supply, river training work, cardamom plantation, CC footpath, construction of crematorium, setting up of Veterinary centre, community play ground, Kishan Bazar at BAC Tintek, the terracing fields and inclusion of PYKKA Sports in Rakdong Tintek GPU.
The BDO Tintek, Mr Denzongpa highlighted about the importance of the Gram Sabha and appreciated the progress of Rakdong-Tintek GPU among the rest of the GPUs in the constituency. He stressed on the ongoing CMRHM in the GPU which plays an important part in the development of the village and further added that the beneficiaries and Panchayat should focus on the scheme for its timely completion along with ensuring quality work.
While highlighting on the scheme of Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF), the BDO informed that the BFGF plays the role of filling gaps where required adding that this fund will be utilized GPU wise. The BDO asked every Panchayat to place their demands from each ward which will be taken up year wise and also highlighted about the Village Development Action Plan.
The representatives from the line departments highlighted about the schemes and status of ongoing work. The A/E RMDD BAC Tintek, Phurba Bhutia highlighted about the approved 12 RCCF bridges in the GPU out of the 19 bridges proposed. Similarly, the Assistant Director, HRDD, DP Sharma highlighted about the Right to Education Act and urged every villager to send their children to school as it is mandatory.
On the demand for the up gradation of Dikchu Secondary School to Senior Secondary level, Mr. Sharma acknowledged that this was a genuine demand as the school falls on the border of three constituencies and the enrolment in the school is highest among the schools in the East district. He further informed that due to some complication in the Department the up gradation is being delayed but assured that it will be taken up soon.
Urging the Gram Panchayat to include the demand in the Gram Sabha list, he informed that the up gradation of Rakdong JHS has already been included in RMSA. The APO BAC Tintek, Khusboo Subba informed about the Chief Minister’s Rural Financial Inclusion scheme for which Rs. 1000/- will be deposited in the bank account of the head of the family by the Chief Minister and highlighted the advantages of the scheme.
Likewise, the Inspector Agriculture Department, NK Dahal highlighted about the Kisan Credit Card [KCC] and informed about the loans being provided to farmers under this scheme. The Panchayat president, Ganden Lepcha informed that the Gram Panchayat will publish a book on the demands included in the Gram Sabha as general information to the public.
Besides, an open discussion was also held during the Sabha wherein the villagers placed various questions to the representatives of line departments. The Sabha concluded with a vote of thanks by Panchayat Vice president, Tika Maya Pandey while the welcome address was given by Panchayat Secretary, BB Gurung. The Gram Sabha was conducted by Field Facilitator, Prem Kaushik.
