Tingchim-Mangshila wins PYKKA competition in North Sikkim

MANGAN, 20 Nov: The 2nd District level PYKKA competition 2011-12, which began on 12 Nov, concluded today at Mangan Public Ground.
Tingchim Mangshila GPU with 124 points was declared the overall champions followed by Navey Shotak GPU in 2nd position with 110 points, Singhik Sentam GPU in 3rd position with 57points, Lingthem and Lingthem Lingdem GPU in 4th position with 28 points.
The chief guest, DM [N], TN Kazi handed over the medals, certificates and trophies.
The chief guest in his address congratulated all the selected participants and urged them to show up talents at the state level competition.
On November 19, the final matches of boys & girls football were held at Mangan. In the girls category, Singhik Sentam played against Lum Gor Santok GPU which was won by the former with a score of 2-1 and in the boys category, Singhik Sentam played Tingchim Mangshila which was won by the former with a score of 1-0. Chief guest on the day was Zilla Adhyaksha, North, K Lepcha.
On 18 Nov, archery, taekwondo and kho kho competition was held at Phodong along with wushu demonstration.
The finals of the boxing competition was held at the Mangshila school ground, wherein a total of 64 boxers participated from 8 Zilla Panchayat units of North district. 20 boxers have been selected for the state level PYKKA competition which will is scheduled to be held from 16 Dec at Gangtok.
