Inspired by Sri Sri’s vision of creating a stress-free and a violence-free society, several service projects and educative stress elimination programs have been operating in West Bengal, under the aegis of The Art of Living. These include free slum schools (in Garcha Harijan Kalyan Sangh colony and Metropolitan Society among others), literacy drives, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation and research centre in Sasthitala, Howrah district and regular medical, blood donation and eye-pledging camps all over the state. Environmental initiatives include tree plantations, cleanliness campaigns (including the project of cleaning and greening of Lilypool Park in Kolkata) and Zero Budget Natural Farming training programs. A latest edition, operating under The Art of Living in West Bengal, is Punarnabha Bangla, a civil society initiative to revive the glory of Bengal by empowering the people to take leadership and accelerate the social, cultural and economic development of the region.
