GANGTOK, 04 Nov (IPR): The Socio-Economic and Caste Census, 2011 commenced for the urban areas ; from 2nd November; the census commenced from Gangtok Municipal Corporation-III enumeration block of Deorali, ward no.11.
The census operation is being carried out with the assistance of the Directorate of Census Operations and Electronic Corporations of India Ltd. (ECIL), Hyderabad.
The enumerators appointed to conduct of the census operation are accompanied by a Data Entry Operator (DEO) appointed by ECIL. Each enumerator will be covering 4 (four) enumeration blocks. Each enumeration block will comprise of minimum 150 households. The data collected from each household is directly entered in the tablet PC by the DEOs. The data will be uploaded in the main computer in each charge centres.
