GANGTOK, 10 Nov: Eklavya Model Residential School, Gangyap thrashed Maria Public School, Narangi 92 -0 in the quarter-final match played in the CBSE Cup [Cluster I] North East Region Basketball Tournament 2011-12 in Guwahati today.
With this win and that too with such a huge margin, EMRS entered into the semi-final rounds of the tournament. Being the defending champion at the tournament, EMRS was placed directly in the quarter-final rounds.
In today’s match, the team captain, Nima Doma along with Rinchen, Eden, Nim Lhamu and Diki were the highest scores.
The opening ceremony of the champioship had the CBSE Regional Officer, KK Chowdhery, highly appreciating the game displayed by the team from Sikkim and expressed his best wishes to the team for the upcoming matches.
The 12 member basketball team of EMRS left for the tournament on 07 November. The team has Nim Doma Bhutia as captain and Manita Subba as the vice captain. The team is being accompanied by Tini Tshechu as the team manager and Sidharth Yonzon as the coach.
