IRBn Sikkim conducts its largest recruiting drive in Sikkim

GANGTOK, 03 Nov: The India Reserve Battalion, Sikkim is in the process of recruiting five hundred jawans for its two newly raised Battalions.
This is the largest recruitment ever taking place at one go in the State of Sikkim. In this connection, the IRBn is going to release the list of the candidates tomorrow, who have qualified for appearing for the viva-voce examinations on the basis of the written test.

Speaking to newspersons at his official chamber in this regard, the Inspector General of the Armed Police, Akshay Sachdeva informed that the list will be released at 10 am in the morning which will be available on the notice boards of all the Police Stations in the state, at the offices of all the SDPOs and District SPs and at the Police Headquarters simultaneously. He explained that the list will also be available at the Sikkim Police Website: http://www.sikkimpolice.nic.in/ for the convenience of the candidates. The viva-voce will take place on the 15th, 16th, 18th 21st and 22nd November at the Sikkim Police Headquarters in Gangtok itself, the IGP explained.

The Inspector General of the Armed Police mentioned that about five thousand candidates had appeared for the physical efficiency test held in all the four districts between 21 July and 6 August earlier this year, making it one of the largest turnouts of candidates wanting to join the para-military force.
Some 1400 of them were cleared for the written test held at four centers on the 28th of August. He stated that West Point School and TNA in Gangtok were the centers for the east and north districts while JNV, Rothak was for the west district and Government Senior Secondary School, Namchi was the examination centre for the candidates from the South district.
The IGP further advised and urged each of the candidates to see the list of the qualified candidates for themselves personally to avoid any confusion since the list will also include the date of interview mentioned against the name of each of the qualified candidates.
The IGP also revealed that the two newly raised IRBn Battalions will still have the scope for recruitment of another one thousand jawans, since, against a sanctioned strength of about one thousand each, the two Battalions  will be having a little more than five hundred jawans only even after the ongoing recruitment drive is complete. This, he said, is going to present a big job opportunity for the local youth in the coming years which has also been the main aim of the state government, especially the Chief Minister, Pawan Chamling who has made it possible for the unemployed educated youth in the state to make sustainable livelihoods by introducing such avenues of employment generation in Sikkim even with its limited government employment opportunities.
