GANGTOK, 07 Nov: The 12 member basketball team of Eklavya Model Residential School, Gangtok has left for Guwahati for the CBSE Regional (North East) Basketball tournament 2011-12.
The team is being led by Nim Doma Bhutia of class X as captain and Manita Subba of class X as the vice captain. The games will be played at Kaziranga Eanglish Academy in Guwahati where the top team of North Eastern area will be participating.
This is the second time EMRS is participating in the CBSE Regional Tournament. They were champions last year and hope to keep the winning record intact. If they qualify in the regional level at Guwahati, the team will qualify for the national level which is scheduled to be held in Chennai next month. The team is being escorted by Tini Tshechu as the team manager and Sidharth Yonzon as the coach. The duration of the tournament is from 10-12 November
