GANGTOK, 11 Nov: The birthday of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, an eminent educationist and a great leader of India’s freedom struggle was celebrated by the Govt Girls Sr Sec School Deorali today, informs a press release.
Students, teachers and members of the School Management Committee had gathered today at the school to mark the occasion.
The messages of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister were read out to the gathering while one of the teachers spoke on the Right to Education Act, the release informs. Members of the SMC also addressed the gathering.
After the speech, a rally with banners and slogans was organized which had students of Class X, XI and XII walking from Deorali to Hospital Dara along with the teachers, the release adds.
