GANGTOK, 10 Aug: The original soundtrack of the Nepali feature film ‘Acharya’ was released by the Gangtok MLA, Dorjee Namgyal, here today. Also present for the release function as guests of honour were DD Bhutia [former minister], KN Topgay [Mayor, Gangtok], Shakti Singh [Deputy Mayor]. Producer of the movie Roshan Rai [MD, Nayuma Television], Director Prashant Rasaily, and Bishal Chamling, an actor, hosted the event.
The movie produced under the banner of Silk Route Pictures contains eight songs sung by Bhakta Raj Acharya, the music composer, while two songs are sung by Satya Raj Acharya and Swaroop Raj Achayra, the sons of Bhakta Raj Acharya, with the former playing his father’s character in the movie.
Lyrics have been penned by Nabraj Lamsal, Ravi Pranjal, Lt. Ishwor Ballav, Saroj Karthak, Lt. Binod Dhakal, Umesh Adhikari, the music arranged and programmed by Amar Mohile, mixed by Hitesh Mistry and remastered at Bona Ventures Studio, Mumbai. The movie is co-produced by Indira Maya Rai and Sumitra Rai.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest congratulated the entire team for taking such an initiative and added that the State government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was taking many positive steps to motivate youth in the right direction.
“To motivate the youth in sports, the Chief Minister started giving sports incentives and now to motivate youth in producing movies and get into acting, he is giving incentives for movie making,” said the MLA. Talks are also underway to open a film studio in Sikkim, he added.
Speaking on why Nepali movies did not fare well commercially in India, he said that in India, Entertainment Tax was very high and this drove up the ticket prices. He also informed that he would take up this issue in the Assembly.
Earlier, Roshan Rai [MD, Silk Route Pictures], the producer of the movie and Prashant Rasaily also addressed the gathering, during which they detailed various aspects of the movie.
The movie is set for release on 23 September and depicts the life story of celebrated Bhajan singer Bhakta Raj Acharya.
