GANGTOK, 05 July: 160th birth anniversary of Padre Ganga Prasad Pradhan was celebrated yesterday by Unmukti Sahityik Pariwar at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ranka in East Sikkim.
The programme was attended by a senior litterateur, Rajesh Lulam Rai of Darjeeling as chief guest accompanied by a popular gospel singer from Darjeeling, John Gurung.
Associate Editor, Unmukti Sahityik Pariwar, Dhurba Subba gave a brief speech on the life of the Padre.
The chief guest appealed to the house to nurture Nepali language, stressing that it reflected their identity. He also urged on all to make an effort to speak flawlessly.
At the programme various writers- Nirmal Kumar Bungchen, Panchalal Lohar, Santosh Khawas, Dhurba Subba, Ajay Basnett, Kamal Kumar and Emmanuel Gift also presented their latest works which were evaluated by the chief guest, informs a release.
