GANGTOK, 26 June [IPR]: As per a Press communiqué received from the Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the Gyalshing-Dentam and Gyalshing-Sabdong road have been badly damaged including due to landslide in West District and extensive damage caused to the crops.
The Roads & Bridges Minister, RB Subba, Relief Commissioner, Secretary, Irrigation & Flood Control, Secretary, Roads & Bridges, District Collector, West, Superintendent of Police and District Officers are involved in inspection and rescue operation.
The Relief Commissioner has handed over a cheque of Rs. 30 lakh to the DC for distribution of ex-gratia and relief.
A team of National Disaster Response Force stationed at New Jalpaiguri has been requested for help in the rescue operation and the team has already proceeded to West District.
