NAMCHI, 04 May [IPR]: Badminton Association of Namchi has announced plans to organise the 3rd Sikkim Himalayan Open Badminton Tourney at Namchi Indoor Stadium from 14 to 16 May.
A meeting was held in this regard under the chairmanship of the patron, area MLA, Binod Rai, and also attended by the chairperson of the association, District Collector [South], AK Singh along with the president, Durga Rai and other members of the association.
During the meet it was informed that the tournament will have the following categories; under 13 boys and girls singles, under 16 boys and girls, Men’s singles and doubles, Men’s open veteran (42 +) singles and doubles, Senior veteran (55+) doubles and Officer’s Special.
It was also informed, that players from neighbouring countries like Nepal and Bhutan will also be participating in the tourney, along with players from West Bengal.
The organizers expressed hopes of support from the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs to successfully host such an event in the region.
